Dr. Oz: Beating Belly Bloat

Whether it happens after snacking on your favorite potato chips, before or during your cycle, or is simply a continuously nagging problem, you are not alone in the fight against belly bloat!

Dr. Oz elaborates on what triggers stomach bloating and how you can get rid of it for good.

What Causes Belly Bloating?
Dr. Oz explains that as we intake food, the body?s regular digestive juices really do not digest food as well as we would like to imagine. In fact, regular digestive juices within our system make minor impact on the digestion of foods, allowing it to back up within the digestive tract. The morsels of food left behind are then unable to be broken down into nutrients, leaving gas within your gut, which causes the stomach to bloat.

How YOU Can Defeat Bloating
To promote a healthy, properly functioning digestive system, Dr. Oz encourages finding ways to get probiotics into your system. As he explains, probiotics are ?good? bacteria that aid the body in maintaining natural balances of different organisms. WebMD elaborates that, ?Many [probiotics] provide their benefits by adjusting the microflora (the natural balance of organisms) in the intestines, or by acting directly on body functions, such as digestion.?

Incorporating probiotic juices with the body?s regular digestive juices ?literally melts the food away.? The digestive system can quickly dissolve and rid of food morsels, which in turn leaves gas far less bothersome.

An easy way which Dr. Oz promotes the intake of probiotics is eating yogurt. Full of these beneficial bacteria, all natural, sugar-free yogurts build up ?good? bacteria in the digestive tract and provide the power to the digestive system to function properly. A six ounce container of all-natural, 2% fat Greek yogurt can become a staple of your diet and help keep that tummy flat! WebMD notes that yogurt can also help with repletion – allowing you to feel fuller without the overeating process that often results in bloating. However, because probiotics have short life expectancies, yogurt must be eaten every day for a minimum two weeks. As well, ensure that your yogurt of choice contains ?live and active cultures? so that the bacteria are alive and able to provide the proper bacterial strains into the stomach.

An alternative (and potentially more effective) method to fighting belly bloat is taking a daily probiotic supplement. The LIVESTRONG Foundation details that these ?gut-friendly bacteria? promote strong gastrointestinal health and protect the intestines from harmful microbes. Dr. Oz also advocates this method because supplemental probiotics do not get digested or killed by acid and can survive the stomach?s acidity.

In the long struggle of belly bloating, Dr. Oz has finally delivered a simple solution: probiotics. Contrary to belief, you don?t need to diet or detox to keep bloating under control?you purely need to, ?Deliver good bacteria where you need it for good digestion.?
